Bad Endbacher Wandermarathon : walking details
The event offers two marked walking routes that both start and finish at the Sportpark in Bad Endbach. Meeting point for the guided walks, unless noted otherwise, is at the Lahn-Dill-Berglandtherme.
- Marathon ca. 42 km
- Halbmarathon ca. 21 km
Terrain and route: the trails run along an old railway line and narrow forest paths, continue over meadows, open terrain and past wind turbines, and include steep and long ascents as well as downhill sections. Notable points on the route are a disused quarry with a nearby viewpoint (around km 12.8), the Hilsberg and Kreuzberg ridges, and the Salzbödesattel. The highest point of the courses is near Schindeberg at about 550 m above sea level.
Rest stops and logistics: there are marked refreshment stations at about km 11, km 22.5 and km 31.7. Half-marathon walkers join the main route at about km 24.3 (their km 3.8). Marathon walkers face about 800 metres of positive elevation gain, half-marathon walkers about 450 metres. Guides from the Landschaftsführer group accompany the routes and wear high-visibility vests.
