Betuwse Bloesemtocht : walking details
The Betuwse Bloesemtocht is a spring walking event through blooming fruit orchards in the Betuwe. The official start and finish are at FruitMasters in Geldermalsen. Routes lead along dikes, the river Linge, through orchards and characteristic villages such as Tricht, Buurmalsen, Deil, Beesd, Rhenoy, Asperen and Enspijk. Walkers cross the Linge via a temporary ponton bridge specially installed for the event.
Practical walking information:
- 9 km : family route, twice crossing the Linge, suitable for recreational walkers.
- 15 km : classic Heijtec route, varied terrain, passes Mariënwaerdt and Notendijk.
- 27 km : landscape route, longer discovery tour through landgoed Mariënwaerdt and Beesd.
- 40 km : Rabo-route, the longest challenge, follows dikes and historic sites.
Start windows differ by distance; the finish closes at 17:00. Along the routes are village hubs with music, food trucks and local refreshments. The terrain is mainly paved and unpaved rural paths, dikes and orchard tracks. Travel to the start is easiest by train or bicycle; the start area is within walking distance of Geldermalsen station. Parking at nearby P+R sites is possible but not reserved for the event. Volunteers manage wayfinding and support along the routes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
