Event overview
The Omloop Goeree Overflakkee is a long distance walk around the island Goeree-Overflakkee with start and finish in Ooltgensplaat. The event offers two marked long routes that run partly along island roads, polders and beaches.
Practical walking details
- 110 km
- 80 km
The route circles the island and includes varied terrain: paved roads, rural polders and stretches along the beach where wind and rain can affect conditions. Checkpoints and places such as Herkingen are used along the route; some walkers finish or stop there. The organisation and local residents provide encouragement and support during the route. The 37th edition is scheduled for 27 and 28 August 2027. In 2026 about 952 starters were recorded and 550 walkers finished the 110 km under heavy weather conditions.
What walkers should note
Walkers should prepare for long distances and changing weather, especially on beach sections. Start and finish are in Ooltgensplaat and the course stays on the island, so logistics for arrival and departure can be planned from that point.
