Egmond Wandel Marathon : routes and practical walking info
The event offers coastal and dune walking around Egmond aan Zee with varied terrain: beach, loose sand and rolling dunes in the Noordhollands Duinreservaat. Routes differ by day and section and can be adjusted because of water or ground conditions.
Available distances:
- 10.5 km (adjusted on event days to around 11.5–12.2 km)
- 15 km (adjusted to about 15.2–15.3 km)
- 21.1 km (adjusted to about 21.8–22.5 km)
The 21.1 km routes follow different directions on Saturday (south route) and Sunday (north route). Both days use long beach sections and join dune paths toward the finish in Egmond aan Zee; the Saturday finish is at Sporthal De Watertoren. Tides change beach width during the morning and may affect walking lines. The organisation monitors the parcours and publishes final routes in the Le Champion app before the event.
Practical notes for walkers: several stamp posts are on the routes and the stamp card can be collected at the Wandel Expo. The course is heavy in places and not suitable for wheelchair users or strollers. Dogs are allowed only on a leash. Walk on the right where possible to improve safety and respect the nature reserve by avoiding litter. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
