Frankenwald Wandermarathon : facts for walkers
The Frankenwald Wandermarathon is a one-day organized hike of 42 km around the Frankenwald region with the 2027 edition in Schwarzenbach a.Wald. The route is described as challenging and changes each year to show different parts of the region. Along the course there are creatively designed experience stations that break up the march and add interest for participants of varied ages.
Participants receive a starter package that includes a roadbook, a provisioning wristband and other useful walking items. Catering is extensive: a breakfast buffet before the start, multiple snack points, a midday meal, coffee and cake, and an evening buffet after arrival at the finish. Shuttle points and shuttle stations are available along the route and can be used if a walker overruns their planned pace or needs to shorten the tour.
The event attracts national and international walkers and is limited in entry numbers.
