Houtlandtrail : practical walking information
The Houtlandtrail offers four marked walking routes through the wooded Houtland region, crossing estate parks and nature areas such as Domein Beisbroek and Domein Tudor. Routes pass private kasteeldomeinen and varied forest and park terrain on sandy soil, with a mix of paths and estate tracks.
Walkers can choose between:
- 18 km
- 25 km
- 35 km
- 50 km
All distances start and finish at Sportcomplex De Strooien Hane, Albert van Caloenstraat 2, 8210 Loppem. Each distance has a set free start window on the event day: the 50 km early start, then later windows for the shorter routes. Routes are waymarked with kilometre signs and walkers receive a participation badge and wristband.
Practical provisions include ample staffed refreshment and rest points along every route, sanitary facilities on the course, and an EHBO post at the finish. Participants get one free regional beer or soft drink at arrival and a commemorative memento. Free parking is available near the start venue; public transport options include bus line 70b to the sport centre and nearby train stations at Zedelgem and Brugge. Participation requires advance registration and collection of the participation badge on event day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
