Kölnpfad UltraWandern Wochenende : walking information
The event offers multiple nonstop walks on the KÖLNPFAD, a waymarked trail around Cologne maintained by the Kölner Eifelverein. Route waymarking is supplemented in parts by reflective points; route finding is part of the challenge so a GPS device is strongly recommended.
Key walking options:
- 171 km
- 100 km
- 50 km Daylight
- 50 km into the night
- 35 km
Start and finish area for the festival is Egonstraße 23, 51061 Köln Stammheim. Some distances start elsewhere with bus transfer from the start–finish area. Several starts have fixed windows (for example the 171 km has a wave start between 07:00 and 08:30 with a late option), and each distance has a maximum time (for example 171 km: 48 hours; 100 km: 24 hours; 50 km: 12 hours; 35 km: 8 hours).
Support and practicalities: multiple staffed refreshment points (VPs) along each route (11 VPs for 171 km, 7 for 100 km, 3 or 2 for shorter distances) provide walking-appropriate food and warm/cold drinks. Drop-bag transport is available for longer distances to VP9 (approx. km 121; for 100 km this corresponds to about km 71). A shoulder tracker and online tracking are provided for the 171 km field. Camping or camper parking at the start area is possible from the evening before; basic shower/cleaning fees apply.
Mandatory equipment varies by distance; examples: minimum water quantities (from 1.0 L for shorter walks up to 2.0 L for the 171 km), own cup and cutlery, headlight for night sections, and a charged mobile with organiser number. All walkers must return any loaned tracker at event end. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
