Kyffhäuser Berglauf : walking information
The event offers dedicated walking categories that start and finish at Schlossplatz Bad Frankenhausen (August-Bebel-Platz). Walking options are organized as separate disciplines with timing via transponder and basic support on course.
- 22.2 km (Half marathon walking)
- 11 km walking
- 6 km walking
Walkers have published minimum times: 145 minutes for the half marathon, 75 minutes for 11 km, and 42 minutes for 6 km. The walking routes are timed and the start number includes a transponder, a medal, and access to course and finish refreshments. Aid stations appear approximately every 6 to 10 km and provide tea, fruit drinks, water, bananas and apples. Medical assistance is available along the route and at the finish. Dogs are permitted only in the walking disciplines. The 11 km route is not suitable for prams or buggies. There are free unguarded parking areas in the town. Organizers provide online registration, optional on-site pick-up of start numbers, and limited late registration with a fee. Walkers receive timekeeping but note that faster walkers may be classified in running results if they exceed the minimum speed threshold.
