Marxa del Garraf : walking details
The route links mountain and sea, starting and finishing at Plaça de Jaume Balmes in Gavà. The main route is a demanding mountain walk of 46 km through the Garraf Massif, with steep terrain and varied natural paths. The total positive ascent is +1,360 m and the accumulated elevation gain is 2,720 m, so physical preparation is necessary.
The event is non‑competitive and part of the Catalan resistance walking circuit; time does not determine ranking. The itinerary is marked with ribbons, vertical signs and flour arrows. Volunteers (about 125) staff control and refreshment points. All refreshment points provide water and food; the first refreshment point is located at about 10 kilometres from the start.
Practical notes for walkers:
- There is a fixed start window on the day for departures.
- Bring equipment suitable for long mountain tracks and significant climbs.
- Respect the natural space along the route and follow waymarks.
A shorter track exists and is available as an alternate route. Walkers can consult the official route track if they need detailed navigation information. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
