Poppieswalk : practical walking details

Poppieswalk is a marked walking event that guides participants from Zonnebeke to Ieper, finishing near the Menenpoort. The route stays largely in natural and forested areas around the Ypres Salient and passes several UNESCO First World War memorial sites and many smaller war cemeteries. The 55 km option includes a baggage service.

Practical points for participants: registration is only possible by pre‑entry; no on‑the‑day signups. After registration participants receive an e‑ticket and must collect a participation badge at the start location. At the start participants receive a wristband that is shown at rest points to get supplies. The organisation provides marked routes with kilometre signs, generous food and drink supply points, sanitary facilities and first aid posts. Shuttle bus transfers to the start are included from the Picanol parking in Ieper; free parking is also available in several Ieper parking zones. Small dogs are allowed on the shuttle bus.
