MESA : practical walking information
The MESA is a four-day organised walk in late June with four city stages: Marche-en-Famenne, Sainte-Ode, Bastogne and Saint-Hubert. Each stage is run as loops offering these distances:
- 8 km
- 16 km
- 24 km
- 32 km
On the routes walkers find water and snack refreshment points and a larger mid-route halt with bar and small catering provided by local organisations. The start/arrival zone also has a bar, small catering run by the military camp and a MESA shop selling event items. A cross-orientation event (O-MESA) is offered as an alternative to one stage; long and medium courses include marked refreshment points and require basic map-reading.
The event offers organised camps on three sites: Club BENELUX : La Roche-en-Ardenne, Houffalize (Hall Sportif) and the Camp Militaire (Bourdon). Accommodation options include military tents, personal tents, motorhomes and caravans. Bus transport between camp and city stages is provided only for participants registered and paid under Formules A, B or C; bus access is linked to a bracelet issued in the camps.
Departures on site start at 7:30. Walkers should note cut-off departure times: the longer distances have an earlier last permitted departure and other distances have a later last permitted departure. Rewards (pins and medals) are issued based on scanned validations of completed distances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
